Here's another household topic worth sharing. :)
A Blind Beggar Receives His Sight
35 As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36 When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening.37 They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”
38 He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
39 Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
40 Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Lord, I want to see,” he replied.
42 Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.”43 Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

In heaven, there is a warehouse full of gifts that were not sent to their receivers. The reason: because the receiver stopped praying for it. The gifts were being prepared and ready to be sent, however, the ones who prayed for the gift stopped asking for it.
Sometimes, in our frustration, we stop asking God to grant us our heart's desires. Let us continue to believe that God will answer our prayers. God is generous but He wants us to verbalize what we want Him to do for us.

During the household, a sister shared this quote from St. Teresa of Avila (whose Feast Day is my birthday. :D):

As for me, I was really hit by the highlighted phrase above (because the receiver stopped praying for it). Sa totoo lang kasi, marami na rin akong panalangin na hindi sinagot ng Panginoon sa paraang gusto ko. Not that I lost faith in Him, it's just that instead of praying for my specific requests, I came to a point of just surrendering everything to His will. I end up saying, "Ikaw na lang po ang bahala, Panginoon."
Then I was reminded of my blog post two months ago.
Jesus encourages us to ask because: (1) it is a sign of humility(2) it is an act of faith(3) it determines the level of relationship that we have with God
Asking is praying. And when we pray, it's not just us asking, but God, too. He lovingly asks, "what do you want Me to do for you, My child?"
Let us not hesitate to tell Him, "Lord, this is what I want, but if this is not what You want for me, then help me to understand, and to accept that You know best. Ultimately, Your will be done." ♥
