If you have a secret sorrow, a burden or a loss,
An aching need for healing...
Hang it on the cross.
If worry steals your sleep and makes you turn and toss,
If your heart is feeling heavy...
Hang it on the cross.
Every obstacle of faith or doubt you come across,
Every prayer unanswered...
Hang it on the cross.
For Christ has borne our brokenness and dearly paid the cost
To turn our trials to triumphs...
Hanging on the cross.
I saw this beautiful poem written by Lisa O. Engelhardt while I was browsing through my journal this afternoon.
Such a great reminder to surrender everything at the foot of the cross of Jesus - the cross where Jesus fulfilled His mission, where He willfully submitted Himself to the plan of the Father, where He lovingly gave His all for our sake.
More than anything else, remembering Christ's passion and death on the cross makes me feel so loved, so special, so worthy. He did not deserve to be crucified. I do. But because of His great, unconditional love, He took my place.
No other love story could be more beautiful than that. ♥

Because of love, more than two thousand years ago, a Savior died to redeems us. Jesus, though he existed in the form of God did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped, but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, by looking like other men, and by sharing in human nature. He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death —even death on a cross! (Philippians 2:6-8)
Even before Christina Perri sang this song and Legaci made a cover of it with Clara C., Jesus has already serenaded us with the same words:
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
How do we respond to Jesus' sacrifice? Do we accept the salvation He offers? Or do we let Him continue to die everyday because of our ingratitude, unbelief, stubbornness, and hardness of heart?
Since the beginning of time, God has been saying "I love you." More than two thousand years after the greatest act of His love, may we also be able to finally say "We love You too, Lord!" in words, in thoughts, in deeds. ♥
