I travelled to Baguio last weekend to attend the graduation of the last batch of cadets I took care of during CFC Singles for Christ's Christian Life Program back in 2015. My husband was not able to come but he made sure I'd have everything I need for the trip. ❤️
He took a half-day leave on Friday to prepare my food and to bring my things (so that I don't need to bring a lot of stuff in the office). He met me and Ate Chie at Galleria that night and accompanied us to the bus terminal. Much to my surprise, he also prepared something for Ate Chie (most likely a bribe to remind her to take care of me 😂).
And so I had a very emotional (in a good way) weekend in Baguio. I got to see and talk to my girls, I bonded with my SFC brothers and sisters, and finally got to eat at Arca's Yard and Cafe Adriana. Every now and then, he would send me a text message to check how I was doing, if I had already eaten (I've been following a strict diet - food and timing - since April), and if I'm safe and dry (because it's been raining hard in Baguio). He also watched the live telecast of the graduation and we exchanged messages when my girls are being called or if he sees something interesting on the screen.
I was already on the bus going back to Manila when he told me he can't go back to Makati yet because he's still not feeling well (he woke up with a fever on Sunday morning). I felt guilty that I couldn't take care of him but I'm so grateful that his family was there. It was a relief for me to know that he's not alone.
And then he sent me this message:
"nagpasuyo ako kay jul prito isda at luto quinoa para pwede mo sagarin tulog mo. magleave pag di kaya. di tayo pwede sabay may sakit."
I cried upon reading it. How can he be so thoughtful???😭I mean he's already sick but he still thinks about my welfare. Such a selfless act. 😍
There can be no other explanation but LOVE. ❤️ We all know the Biblical definition, and I'm so blessed to have found that kind of love. 😊 I don't need to elaborate in this post the countless times and ways I've experienced that love through my husband (but I would gladly share it with you if you're interested to know, just send me a message 😉😊). I just want to point out that love is also a verb. It's not meant to just be spoken, it's meant to be shown, to be proven by concrete actions.
My husband is a man of few words. As a matter of fact, he rarely says "I love you." BUT he consistently wakes up early every morning to prepare our food (for the record, I also know how to cook, it just so happened that my husband cooks better, and he wakes up earlier than I do 😁. I do the other household chores instead - laundry, dishwashing, garbage disposal, etc. 😄). He is a good provider, he cares not just for me but for the people around us, he does what he can to make things easier and lighter for me, he makes sure I'm comfortable wherever, whenever. He is a man of action, and a man who keeps his word. ❤️
I woke up at around 10 o'clock in the morning on Monday. True enough, I already had cooked quinoa and bangus courtesy of our housemate Julius (by the way, he's single and ready to mingle! 😁😊).
I used to be a big fan of love letters and verbalizing love, but now I no longer care about the "verbal" expression (though I'd still be delighted to receive sweet nothings 😄), because I realized that the "verb" is more important. 😊 Actions speak a thousand words, they say, and the thousand little things that my husband does every single day are more than enough to make me feel his love - a thousandfold. 😍
Until now, I still wonder what I did right to deserve him. My father would always tell me that God loves me and that He will give me the best, because I deserve the best. Reflecting on my marriage, and the kind of person that Paolo is, I'd say God loves me THAT MUCH to send me someone better than the best. 😊 And for that, I'm forever grateful. ❤️
