Dear Future Husband ♥

I just finished my novena to St. Joseph, husband of Mary and foster father of Jesus.

Here is a copy of the Novena Prayer in case you're interested:

Saint Joseph, you are the faithful protector and intercessor of all who love and venerate you. You know that I have confidence in you and that, after Jesus and Mary, I come to you as an example for holiness, for you are especially close with God. Therefore, I humbly commend myself, with all who are dear to me and all that belong to me, to your intercession. I beg of you, by your love for Jesus and Mary, not to abandon me during life and to assist me at the hour of my death.

Glorious Saint Joseph, spouse of the Immaculate Virgin, pray for me to have a pure, humble, charitable mind, and perfect resignation to the divine Will. Be my guide, my father, and my model through life that I may die as you did in the arms of Jesus and Mary.

Loving Saint Joseph, faithful follower of Jesus Christ, I raise my heart to you to implore your powerful intercession in obtaining from the Divine Heart of Jesus all the graces necessary for my spiritual and temporal welfare, particularly the grace of a happy death, and the special grace I now implore:

(Mention your request)

Guardian of the Word Incarnate, I feel confident that your prayers on my behalf will be graciously heard before the throne of God.

Day 1 – St. Joseph Most Just, Pray for us!
Day 2 – St. Joseph Most Prudent, Pray for us!
Day 3 – St. Joseph Most Loving Husband, Pray for us!
Day 4 – St. Joseph Most Strong, Pray for us!
Day 5 – St. Joseph Most Obedient, Pray for us!
Day 6 – St. Joseph Most Faithful, Pray for us!
Day 7 – St. Joseph Pillar of Families, Pray for us!
Day 8 – St. Joseph Patron of the Dying, Pray for us!
Day 9 – St. Joseph Terror of Demons, Pray for us!

Amen.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen.

Speaking of husband, I have been hearing a song which inspired me to compose my own letter to the man whom God has prepared for me to spend the rest of my life with. But unlike the lyrics of that song, this isn't about my selfish demands. Rather, this is an introduction to my person. :)

Here it goes:

Dear Future Husband,

I wonder if you're thinking about me as much as I think about you. I wonder if you also pray for me the way that I am praying for you. I wonder when we would meet. Or maybe we have already known each other but have not yet realized that we're destined to be each other's last love. No matter what kind of life you lead right now, and no matter how long it takes for you to find me, I know for certain that we would be together, in God's perfect time. :)

And so as we discern and try to live out God's plan for the both us, allow me to tell you some important things about me.

First things first, I am Catholic, and while I believe that we are all worshiping just one God, it matters to me that you have the same beliefs as mine. I don't want to argue about where to go on Sundays, and thinking forward, I don't want our children to be confused about our religion. It is important that we grow in faith together.

Now allow me to introduce my family. Next to God, they are my priority. All that I do now is for them, and, of course, for our future family. I could only hope that you value family as much as I do.

I came from a small family with only four members, my parents, me, and my younger brother. Papa and Mama are already in Iloilo (Mama's province). Papa had to retire early due to sickness but he is fine now and already able to drive a tricycle (sometimes a habal-habal) for a living. Mama manages a little sari-sari store.  My brother Arnold works as a graphic artist in Pasig. He is already engaged to his girlfriend, Eileen, and they plan to tie the knot next year. I hope by then we have already met so that you too can witness their union. :)

I currently work for Couples for Christ Global Mission Foundation, Inc. as a Process Analyst under MIST (IT department). I don't earn much since it's missionary work, but I get fulfillment from knowing that I am serving God through the community. I give my all in everything that I do. I am very passionate when it comes to work and service. By the way, I am also a member of Singles for Christ, a family ministry of Couples for Christ. I serve in Metro Manila-East A covering parts of Pasig, Cainta, and Taytay. I finished the Christian Life Program, the entry point to SFC, on December 9, 2006. Since then, my life has changed (and is ever-changing) for the better.

I am not perfect. I am also a sinner still striving to be a saint. I made a lot of bad decisions in the past and I have my own list of regrets. But I can assure you of one thing: I am learning. :)

I guess you should also know some of my illnesses. Well, I just recovered from bronchitis. I also have scoliosis and gastritis. All of them are stress-induced. But there's nothing to fear, I won't be too much of a burden for you. Somehow I have managed to be independent. I have learned how to take care of myself. Doctors have told me that I will be well when I get married so rest assured that my health will get better when we're finally together. :)

I seem to have written a lot already, but I tell you there's just a whole lot more. The rest is for you to discover. Don't worry, the truth will not be withheld from you. :)

I can't tell you enough how excited I am to finally meet you, to finally tell you everything you need to know about me, to finally begin our journey to forever.

For now, I can only hope and pray that wherever you are, whoever you are with, whatever you do, they're just all part of the grander plan of the Lord for me and for you, that one day, we'll be together, loving and serving God and one another, living fully our vocation as husband and wife, and, soon enough, as father and mother to our children.

Until then, faithfully yours,
Future Wife

Jesus Week 2015: A Time To HEAL ♥

I had the best, most meaningful HOLY WEEK ever, so far (the best is yet to come!). :) Thanks to Joy who shared the Jesus Week poster on Facebook. It was God's personal invitation, and I couldn't thank Him enough for the grace that He also gave me to respond. Everything is grace. It was not just my personal decision to join. It was God's grace that allowed me to.
So how did it go? Well, as what I have told my friends, it was amazingly beautiful! The experience was priceless! On Holy Monday, I posted Fr. Jerry Orbos' acronym for HOLY WEEK. I experienced all of that and more! :)
I won't be able to share everything as there is just a lot of personal, intimate encounters with the Lord. But if I were to summarize, it was a time for me to HEAL. :)
Halt. Indeed, I was able to stop and just rest in the Lord. Before leaving Manila, I have already told myself that this retreat will be all about Jesus (Jesus Week nga e :D). No emails, no texts, no calls. I'll just spend…

Understanding Lupang Hinirang

Every Filipino knows Lupang Hinirang (though some know it better as "Bayang Magiliw"). How can you not know it when it is the national anthem of the Philippines? But do we really mean the lyrics that we sing? Do we understand it in the first place?

This video has gone viral weeks ago. This afternoon, I shared it to my teammates, and one commented, "Yun pala yun. Ngayon ko lang naintindihan."He immediately downloaded it and converted to MP3.
So for those who have not seen it, once again, here is Joey Ayala's version of Lupang Hinirang. And I agree, you would never want to sing it in another way. (But that's just me. :D) This rendition is simply beautiful. Truly Filipino. :) Of course that doesn't mean we need to revise our national anthem but maybe we can consider about correcting the way we sing it (read: proper pronunciation).

Read more about the Philippine National Anthem here.

P.S. I read a lot of negative comments on the original video uploaded o…

Thank You, Lord! :)

It has been a long and stressful day (the past three days have been lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng and stressssssssssssssssssssssssssssssful), but You are just so amazing, Lord that I couldn't sleep without telling You how grateful I am. :)
Thank You, Lord for the miracle that You did yesterday. Break even and more. :)
Thank You, Lord for the laughter and stories shared during the post-mission meeting with Team Thailand. :)
Thank You, Lord for Lawrence. He is just the (almost) perfect man. He has his flaws, but they are acceptable; he makes mistakes, but they are all forgivable. There are a lot of men but there can never be anyone else. He's really the one. And You know it very well. :)
Thank You, Lord for giving me strength and endurance each day. :)
Thank You, Lord for the short but restful sleeps. :)
Thank You, Lord for every waking moment and every opportunity that You give me to proclaim Your greatness. :) Thank You, Lord for Your message through Fr. Frank. I heard it loud…

The Holy Spirit*

Reflections from John 15:26-16:4

True friendship is strengthened in adversity. Jesus offers His disciples the best and truest of friends. Who is this promised friend?
Jesus calls the Holy Spirit our Counselor and Advocate (also translated Paraclete or Helper). Counselor is a legal term for the one who will defend someone against an adversary and who guides that person during the ordeal of trial. The Holy Spirit is our Advocate and Helper who brings us safely through the challenges and adversities we must face in this life. As Jesus approaches the hour that He was to be glorified - through His death on the cross and His resurrection - He revealed more fully to His disciples the person and the role of the Holy Spirit. What does Jesus tell us about the Holy Spirit?
First, the Holy Spirit is inseparably one with the Father and the Son. It is the Holy Spirit who gives life - the very life of God - and who kindles faith in hearts receptive to God's word. The S…
