Today's Gospel is an affirmation for me. And I truly believe that Fr. Ruper's homily is God's way of consoling me. :)
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 9:1-6.
Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic.
Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there.
And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them."
Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere.
From the homily of Fr. Ruper Solis:
There are three things that we learn from today's Gospel.
- We are MESSENGERS. We are being sent to spread the Message that comes from God. On our own, we are nothing. We only get our strength and our power from the One who sent us.
- We must be SIMPLE workers. The Lord told His disciples to take nothing for the journey - nothing else more than what they need. We are following the footsteps of Jesus. We live according to how He lived. And He lived simply.
- We must be POSITIVE thinkers. There will be challenges along our journey. But you can either be sad that roses have thorns or happy that thorns have roses. You can either see the glass as half-empty, or half-full. It's just a matter of perspective. And as disciples of the Lord, we have but one perspective - that of Jesus - thus, we are to maintain a positive attitude. After all, we have a God who is in control. :) "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)

I dared to be a disciple. And with these affirmations, I am moving on. :)
