I was waiting for my turn to pay at the Meralco Business Center when my attention was caught by a woman wearing a black shirt with the statement "I LOVE MY HUSBAND" (bold and white). Yeah, loud and proud. However, I also noticed some gray texts in between those words. At first I thought they were just embellishments but when I got close enough to see them clearly, I found out they're actually words that complete this statement: I LOVE it when MY HUSBAND gives me money.
I tried my best not to judge the woman but if I were her, I wouldn't wear something contrary to my personality. Neither would I wear a statement I don't personally agree to. But then again, that's just me.
But thanks to her and her attention-grabber shirt, I was reminded of what true love is. Unconditional.
Today, we thank the good Lord for adding another year in Mama's life. Next to Mama Mary, she is the most important woman in my life, and the most beautiful woman I have ever met. What makes her so beautiful? Her genuine, unconditional love. :)
I could go on for days giving reasons why Mama is an example of a perfect mother who gives not just her best but her all for her children, for the whole family. She loves without conditions. With or without money. With or without recognition. She just loves and offers her whole self, her whole life to us.
When I called her today, I asked her what's her wish. She answered with another question, "Kailangan ko pa bang sabihin, anak?" I did not insist but just told her that I pray that God would grant whatever she desires because I know she desires nothing but the good, in fact, she desires what is best for us.
After a few minutes, I received a text message from her. And it just proved how loving my mother is.

Her wish was as simple as that. Not for her, but for us. And on her special day, she didn't forget our dog's need for immunization. How selfless can one get?
Mababaw siguro tingnan para sa iba. But for me, these seemingly little and simple things are what make Mama a great mother. And I miss all her little gestures of love.
I'll end before I drown in tears. Whew!
It's her first birthday that we're not together. By God's grace, we'll be able to celebrate her birthday next year as a whole family again, with our respective partners, as she wishes. Si Arnold sigurado na. By that time, he and Eileen are already married. Ako na lang po, Lord. Hihintayin ko po ang katuparan ng pangarap ni Mama. :)
Happy happy birthday, Mama! I love you and I miss you (and Papa too)! ♥
Here's my prayer for you:
Lord Jesus, look with mercy and love upon my mother.
Reward her untiring generosity, her love, her care for me.
I ask for her the same blessings You desired for Your Mother:
health of body, peace of soul, happiness of family, and the bountiful grace of God.
Give her the richest joy of a mother's heart,
that her children may grow in wisdom and grace before God and men.
Amen. ♥
