The Pine, Lumpini, and Getting Lost (Day 4 in Bangkok)

[June 5]

By 2pm, we were fetched by the driver assigned to Kuya Nemboy and we headed to Pathum Thani to check the venue for the Knights Tale and Princess Diaries this weekend. The Pine Resort is where we're supposed to have the Global Leaders Summit last year. Unfortunately, it was one of the flooded areas at that time and so the summit was held in Juntra instead.

Lobby of The Pine Resort.
Upon arrival, we were each given a cold glass of water as a welcome token. After discussing the details of our reservation, Ate Veron paid for the initial deposit and we were then brought to the conference room and activity area.

Welcome drink. :)
The conference room is quite spacious and they say could accommodate up to 150 persons.

When we reached the activity area, there were some girl and boy scouts from an international school happily performing their tasks. And I could only wish we'll have time for teambuilding activities too. You see the Princess Diaries schedule is a bit hectic because there's really A LOT to discuss. Anyway, I'll just leave to the Lord if He would still allow us to play this weekend or just give us time to reflect and spend quiet moments with Him. :)

I am but excited. :)

On our way back to Bangkok, I was able to capture some photos of the beautiful structures in the city.

Temple-like skyscrapers. :)
And on one part, I saw this:

Light & Darkness
What do you see?

Well, I see light overcoming darkness. And to me it's an affirmation from the Lord that evil will never triumph. No matter how dark the shadow of sin may be, it will be as clear as snow because of the mighty and transforming love and forgiveness of God.

As it is written, "Fear not. I have overcome the world." :)

Now here's a funny story. We arrived in Bangkok a little past 5pm. We had merienda at Subway (thanks to Ate Jing) and decided to take a walk at Lumpini Park. :) When we reached Lumpini, just after a few minutes of walking along the park and exploring what it has to offer, it began to rain. Good thing I had my balabal (shawl) with me and it somehow protected us from the raindrops.

A little sunshine just before the rain.

Temporary protection from the rain.

We continued walking until we were able to find a shed. When the rain finally stopped, it was also dark. The park closes at 9PM and so we decided to explore a little more. We took a lot of photos, mingled with fellow foreigners (oh yes, we're foreigners :D), and just enjoyed each other's company. :) I won't say much but to say the least, we were able to see every corner of Lumpini Park, inside and out. All because we got lost. :D We didn't know which way to go. We just couldn't find the way home. When we almost gave up and resolved to just wait for a cab, by some twist of fate, we didn't chance upon any vacant taxi cab. And so we continued walking. Finally, we were able to see the MRT station. We studied the route and found out that there's also a BTS station nearby. However, we were already too tired of walking and finding nothing and so we just boarded the MRT and got off at the next BTS interchange, which is at Sukhumvit. From there, we already knew we had to go to Siam station, then from Siam to Chong Nonsi, then take the BRT to Thanon Chan. It was in Siam when we realized that we actually took the long cut. Apparently, the MRT station in Silom is interchanged with the Silom line of BTS. And we were just two stations away from Chong Nonsi! Upon realizing our blooper, we just laughed about it and thanked God for leading us back home. :)

Getting lost in a foreign country is such a frightening experience, or even just the thought of it. But only if you realize you're not alone (in my case there was Lawrence, and there is God), that someone is travelling with you, then it becomes a fun learning experience. :)

Day 4 has ended with a happy heart, a more trusting spirit, and a life with added experience. :)

Praise God for everything!

Understanding Lupang Hinirang

Every Filipino knows Lupang Hinirang (though some know it better as " Bayang Magiliw "). How can you not know it when it is the national anthem of the Philippines? But do we really mean the lyrics that we sing? Do we understand it in the first place?  Photo Credit:  http://diazi.ism-online.org This video has gone viral weeks ago. This afternoon, I shared it to my teammates, and one commented, "Yun pala yun . Ngayon ko lang naintindihan."   He immediately downloaded it and converted to MP3.   So for those who have not seen it, once again, here is Joey Ayala's version of Lupang Hinirang. And I agree, you would never want to sing it in another way. (But that's just me. :D) This rendition is simply beautiful. Truly Filipino. :) Of course that doesn't mean we need to revise our national anthem but maybe we can consider about correcting the way we sing it (read: proper pronunciation). Jesus Week 2015: A Time To HEAL ♥

I had the best, most meaningful HOLY WEEK ever, so far (the best is yet to come!). :) Thanks to Joy who shared the Jesus Week poster on Facebook. It was God's personal invitation, and I couldn't thank Him enough for the grace that He also gave me to respond. Everything is grace. It was not just my personal decision to join. It was God's grace that allowed me to.  So how did it go? Well, as what I have told my friends, it was amazingly beautiful! The experience was priceless! On Holy Monday, I posted Fr. Jerry Orbos' acronym for HOLY WEEK . I experienced all of that and more! :)  I won't be able to share everything as there is just a lot of personal, intimate encounters with the Lord. But if I were to summarize, it was a time for me to HEAL. :)  H alt . Indeed, I was able to stop and just rest in the Lord. Before leaving Manila, I have already told myself that this retreat will be all about Jesus ( Jesus Week nga e :D ). No emails, no texts, no calls. I...

Thank You, Lord! :)

It has been a long and stressful day (the past three days have been lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng and stressssssssssssssssssssssssssssssful), but You are just so amazing, Lord that I couldn't sleep without telling You how grateful I am. :) Thank You, Lord for the miracle that You did yesterday. Break even and more. :) Thank You, Lord for the laughter and stories shared during the post-mission meeting with Team Thailand. :) Team Thailand - Princesses from SFC Metro Manila :) Thank You, Lord for Lawrence. He is just the (almost) perfect man. He has his flaws, but they are acceptable; he makes mistakes, but they are all forgivable. There are a lot of men but there can never be anyone else. He's really the one. And You know it very well. :) ♥ Nemo. Love. ♥ Thank You, Lord for giving me strength and endurance each day. :) Thank You, Lord for the short but restful sleeps. :) Thank You, Lord for every waking moment and every opportunity that You give ...

The Holy Spirit*

*Cluster 4 Household Topic Reflections from John 15:26-16:4 True friendship is strengthened in adversity. Jesus offers His disciples the best and truest of friends. Who is this promised friend?  Jesus calls the Holy Spirit our Counselor and Advocate (also translated Paraclete or Helper). Counselor is a legal term for the one who will defend someone against an adversary and who guides that person during the ordeal of trial. The Holy Spirit is our Advocate and Helper who brings us safely through the challenges and adversities we must face in this life. As Jesus approaches the hour that He was to be glorified - through His death on the cross and His resurrection - He revealed more fully to His disciples the person and the role of the Holy Spirit. What does Jesus tell us about the Holy Spirit?  First, the Holy Spirit is inseparably one with the Father and the Son. It is the Holy Spirit who gives life - the very life of God - and who kindles faith in hearts r...
