The Amazing Birthday Weekend

For my first post, allow me to share the little wonders God has allowed me to enjoy during the weekend of my 25th birthday. :)

On Friday night, October 14, our VP for CQTD treated the whole team for a sumptuous dinner at Kabisera, BHS. It was supposed to be her post-birthday celebration. Since I was not feeling good that time, I asked permission from my immediate supervisor to excuse me from the gathering. She agreed at first, but when she heard the people from IOD greeted me a "Happy Birthday", she called me up and insisted that I should go with them. And so that became my pre-birthday celebration.

On Saturday, October 15, my birthday, I woke up early and prepared for the Cornerstone Session. But before that, I first went to my doctor for a general check-up. I arrived at Commonwealth Elementary School just in time for the tutorial. When I entered the room, I was greeted by the 40++ kids who sweetly sang the Happy Birthday Song. I had fun teaching them despite the fact that I was nursing a bad cough and an irritating cold. After the session, Ate Gemma treated me for lunch at Goldilocks Galleria. On the bus going there, we already were able to hear Kuya Tom's very inspiring love story. :) ♥ After lunch, I went home and slept the rest of the day. I was supposed to undergo a Cardiovision Test courtesy of Rapha Health Institute (which I won in one of the online contests) but I was too weak already to still go to Glorietta for that free test. I woke up at around 7PM to the smell of the delicious pancit Mama has prepared for me. :) We had dinner and I thought that would be it. Around 9PM, while I was busy answering the greetings posted on my Facebook wall, Lawrence arrived with a very excited look on his face. He gave me a booklet entitled "Towards the New Evangelization: To Trust in LOVE" and several sheets of recycled paper containing the 25 reasons why he loves me. It was simply overwhelming. Who says one needs a lot of moneey just to make a woman happy? That isn't true, unless one has a "high maintenance" partner. :) And so ends my 25th birthday.

On Sunday, October 16, Ate Chie and I attended mass at St. Pio. It was my first time to visit the chapel and I love the solemnity of the place. "Give back to Ceasar what belongs to Ceasar, give back to God what belongs to God - glory and honor." This was the gist of the priest's homily. After the mass, we were anointed with holy oil and that was just one of the most blessed masses I've ever attended. Ate Chie and I had lunch at KFC Eastwood. After that, we went straight to the BDJ Fair. And that was just one awesome event! I learned a lot from traveler and blogger, Lois, and from Ms. Carelle Mangaliag. And of course we got lots of goodies and free stuffs! :) To top it all off, I claimed my free Belle De Jour Power Planner 2012 which I won in one of their online contests. :D At 6PM, just after the Fashion Show, Ate Chie and I left for our next destination: Gateway Mall where we will meet with Lawrence. The three of us took the train to Recto and to UN Avenue to catch Polarity, the 2nd Anniversary Show of Polecats Manila. :) Guess what? The tickets (worth P1,000 each) were again, free! Lawrence won them in one of Chris and Chloe's contests at the Mellow Facebook Page. :) The show was spectacular! And our seats, simply amazing! We were even a row ahead of Vince G.'s sister. :D After the show, we went to McDo for the "Hundred Peso Meal". We went home tired but very very happy. :)

And that has been my amazing birthday weekend. :) Simple, intimate, fun. :)

More little wonders on my next post. :)

Spread the love. Spread the happiness. God bless and stay safe, people! ♥

Understanding Lupang Hinirang

Every Filipino knows Lupang Hinirang (though some know it better as " Bayang Magiliw "). How can you not know it when it is the national anthem of the Philippines? But do we really mean the lyrics that we sing? Do we understand it in the first place?  Photo Credit:  http://diazi.ism-online.org This video has gone viral weeks ago. This afternoon, I shared it to my teammates, and one commented, "Yun pala yun . Ngayon ko lang naintindihan."   He immediately downloaded it and converted to MP3.   So for those who have not seen it, once again, here is Joey Ayala's version of Lupang Hinirang. And I agree, you would never want to sing it in another way. (But that's just me. :D) This rendition is simply beautiful. Truly Filipino. :) Of course that doesn't mean we need to revise our national anthem but maybe we can consider about correcting the way we sing it (read: proper pronunciation). Jesus Week 2015: A Time To HEAL ♥

I had the best, most meaningful HOLY WEEK ever, so far (the best is yet to come!). :) Thanks to Joy who shared the Jesus Week poster on Facebook. It was God's personal invitation, and I couldn't thank Him enough for the grace that He also gave me to respond. Everything is grace. It was not just my personal decision to join. It was God's grace that allowed me to.  So how did it go? Well, as what I have told my friends, it was amazingly beautiful! The experience was priceless! On Holy Monday, I posted Fr. Jerry Orbos' acronym for HOLY WEEK . I experienced all of that and more! :)  I won't be able to share everything as there is just a lot of personal, intimate encounters with the Lord. But if I were to summarize, it was a time for me to HEAL. :)  H alt . Indeed, I was able to stop and just rest in the Lord. Before leaving Manila, I have already told myself that this retreat will be all about Jesus ( Jesus Week nga e :D ). No emails, no texts, no calls. I...

Thank You, Lord! :)

It has been a long and stressful day (the past three days have been lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng and stressssssssssssssssssssssssssssssful), but You are just so amazing, Lord that I couldn't sleep without telling You how grateful I am. :) Thank You, Lord for the miracle that You did yesterday. Break even and more. :) Thank You, Lord for the laughter and stories shared during the post-mission meeting with Team Thailand. :) Team Thailand - Princesses from SFC Metro Manila :) Thank You, Lord for Lawrence. He is just the (almost) perfect man. He has his flaws, but they are acceptable; he makes mistakes, but they are all forgivable. There are a lot of men but there can never be anyone else. He's really the one. And You know it very well. :) ♥ Nemo. Love. ♥ Thank You, Lord for giving me strength and endurance each day. :) Thank You, Lord for the short but restful sleeps. :) Thank You, Lord for every waking moment and every opportunity that You give ...

The Holy Spirit*

*Cluster 4 Household Topic Reflections from John 15:26-16:4 True friendship is strengthened in adversity. Jesus offers His disciples the best and truest of friends. Who is this promised friend?  Jesus calls the Holy Spirit our Counselor and Advocate (also translated Paraclete or Helper). Counselor is a legal term for the one who will defend someone against an adversary and who guides that person during the ordeal of trial. The Holy Spirit is our Advocate and Helper who brings us safely through the challenges and adversities we must face in this life. As Jesus approaches the hour that He was to be glorified - through His death on the cross and His resurrection - He revealed more fully to His disciples the person and the role of the Holy Spirit. What does Jesus tell us about the Holy Spirit?  First, the Holy Spirit is inseparably one with the Father and the Son. It is the Holy Spirit who gives life - the very life of God - and who kindles faith in hearts r...
