Sixteen: Born To Make Him Happy

Aside from it's Vincci's birthday, today is a special day because it's my first day here at the center. :) I am now working full time for Couples for Christ Global Mission Foundation, Inc. :) Praise God! But today's post is not about my first day, but on the homily given during the mass this noon. Today's Gospel is about the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31).     “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool ...

Fifteen: Preparing for Something New

Yesterday I didn't mention that I spent the morning getting clearances. Today, I went to the hospital for my medical examination. Tomorrow, I'll be living my dream of working at the center! Finally. :) The preparations are a bit tedious, and, if I may say, costly. But I'd like to believe, and I claim that everything will be worth it. Thanks to Mama for the inspiration and encouragement. I was complaining to her about how much time and effort I have spent and she just told me, " Okay lang 'yan, anak. Huli naman na yan kasi mare-regular ka na diyan, diba? " Yes Mama, I claim that this is definitely it, the job I have long prayed for. I know this job will open new doors for me and will give me more opportunities for beginnings. :) And I am excited. I look forward to the blessings that this new path will lead me to and I'm determined to face and overcome every obstacle that comes my way. I'm relying not on my own wisdom, nor my own strength. R...

Fourteen: Great God

It's been more than two weeks since the 19th CFC-SFC International Conference but the "Great God" fever is still on. And I don't think it will ever be turned off. :) It's just amazing how God is manifesting His greatness in our lives. Even the little things, the simplest blessings, when seen with eyes of faith, can actually be a manifestation of how great the Lord is. During our household this afternoon, we were supposed to talk about the first ICon session, Great God. But before I revealed to them the topic, I asked them to rate their life in terms of relationship in the family, relationship with their special someone (since we all have our GGs - read God's Gift/Boyfriend), career, and service. As I listen to their sharing, I couldn't help but smile because they are already citing God's greatness in their lives. When everybody was done rating their respective lives, I told them what our household topic was. And we were all just amazed at how...

Thirteen: Tears

In life, there are days when things become so overwhelming that you just couldn't help but cry. In my life, today is one of those days. Have you heard of this psychological fact: When a person cries and the first drop of tears comes from the right eye, it's happiness. But when the first roll is from the left, it's pain .? Wondering from where the first drop of my tears came? Left. If I were to say the reasons why I am crying, I would have a very long list. But to say the least, it's this: I won't elaborate because that's not where I want to focus my energy on. When I set up this blog last year, I told myself that I'm going to fill it not with negative posts but inspiring and motivating ones. Because through this blog, I want to proclaim God's greatness. :) Let's just say that there are things that I am going through right now. I'm sure you also have your share of misfortunes and disappointments. But what's important is to ...

Twelve: Transfiguration

Today's Gospel, taken from Mark 9:2-10, speaks about the transfiguration of Christ. During the homily, the priest discussed two revelations from this story. First is the true identity of Christ, His divine nature . It was one strong proof that Jesus is not just an ordinary man. He is God. The second revelation is the glorified or resurrected Christ, symbolic of the reality that after every sorrow comes victory. Then the priest talked about responsibilities . At first I didn't see the connection, but now that I'm blogging about it, I had a better understanding. :) Just like Jesus, we have our own responsibilities. These responsibilities are entrusted to us by God. But as we fulfill these responsibilities and encounter difficulties along the way, to whom do we rely for help? From whom do we draw our strength? There is no better source of strength than the One from which those responsibilities came. It was God the Father who sent Jesus to a very important mission, it wa...

Eleven: Long Distance

This blog post is based on the Loving Responses workshop given during today's Unit Heads Training of CFC-Singles for Christ East A. Question: Is it okay to encourage long distance relationships and engagements? Answer: No If there is anything constant in this world, it is change. People change, and they do all the time. The only way people are able to keep abreast with the changes that are happening with each other is when they communicate. The more often they communicate, the greater the chances of being able to bridge the gap being created by change. This is why even in CFC, a couple is asked to have one-to-ones even if they live under one roof. Though they may be living together, the pressures that impinge and catalyze a person's character are so numerous that if two people don't talk to each other in a deep way, they will end up as strangers in due time. If it is difficult for two people who live together to remain intimate with each other without c...

Ten: Two Things

Today is the second of March and I would like to share two things. :) 1. Even in our waiting , God has a plan. This has been the inspiration which I hold on to since January 13. An inspiration which Ate Tina shared and constantly reminds me about. Even in our waiting, God has a plan. I remember the movie Fireproof.    It's a story of hope, love, and faith. Of trusting the Lord completely, surrendering to His will, believing that His plans are always better. It's a story about patiently waiting on the Lord. I particularly liked the soundtrack of that movie because it basically sums up the proper attitude towards waiting, the attitude I've been trying to adopt while I wait on the Lord's promises. :) Sing along with me. :) While I'm Waiting (John Waller) I'm waiting I'm waiting on You, Lord And I am hopeful I'm waiting on You, Lord Though it is painful But patiently, I will wait I will move ahead, bold and conf...
